The Barrio Neighborhood, established in 1889, has a rich history rooted in community and culture. Originally housing Mexican railroad workers, it has evolved into a vibrant area focused on revitalization and support for local businesses and families. The Barrio Neighborhood Planning Committee was formed to implement a neighborhood revitalization plan approved by the City Council in 2018, becoming a nonprofit organization in 2020.
The BNPC has successfully developed a comprehensive neighborhood revitalization plan that includes infrastructure improvements, health initiatives, and community safety programs. These efforts enhance the quality of life for residents and foster a strong sense of community pride.
