Our Story
Bare Hands Gallery Inc. began its journey in 1996 as a visual arts gallery dedicated to showcasing the talents of Alabama artists. Over the years, it evolved to include local performing artists and hosted a variety of exhibitions and events, primarily driven by the passion of volunteers. In 2004, it proudly became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Día de los Muertos festival, inspired by a featured artist's installation, has blossomed into a significant community celebration. Even after closing its gallery space in 2010, Bare Hands has continued to thrive through various partnerships and offerings, including the Birmingham Taco Fest launched in 2017, while actively seeking to expand its arts education programming.
