BARCS
EIN: 86-1130456 · Baltimore, MD
Our Story
Once nicknamed the “underdog,” the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) has been a beacon of hope for over 200,000 animals since its inception in 2005. Founded as a private nonprofit to take over the city shelter, BARCS has transformed from a high-kill facility into Maryland's largest companion animal shelter, caring for 11,000-12,000 lost and homeless animals each year.
Impact
Every month, BARCS rescues nearly 1,000 homeless, neglected, and abused animals. Each animal requires a dedicated guardian to ensure they receive the food, shelter, and medical care they deserve.
Why Donate?
BARCS relies on generous donations to continue its lifesaving work. The General Animal Care Fund allows the shelter to provide every animal with the necessary resources for a second chance at life.
