Our Story
The Makaroff Youth Ballet, founded over 60 years ago by Nikolai and Juanita Makaroff, is a testament to passion and dedication. Nikolai, a Bolshoi-trained ballet dancer, began his journey performing for war survivors in Europe after World War II. In 1960, the Makaroffs established The Makaroff School of Ballet in Appleton, Wisconsin, and later created the Children's Ballet Theatre, now known as the Makaroff Youth Ballet. Today, their daughter, Jeanette Makaroff, continues this legacy as the Artistic Director, ensuring high-quality ballet instruction and performance opportunities for all.
