Our Story

In 2008, Bob and Robert Gillette recognized a significant gap in the support provided to older adults after attending a charity event. With over 50 years of combined experience in senior services, they realized that many donations fail to make a meaningful impact. Inspired by their discussions with Dr. Peter Lichtenberg from Wayne State University, the Baldwin Society Supporting Older Adults was born. This unique nonprofit focuses solely on bridging the gap between government subsidies and the essential needs of seniors, ensuring they can live independently.

Our Impact

Since its inception, the Baldwin Society has raised over $2.3 million, directly benefiting tens of thousands of older adults. By minimizing administrative costs, the organization channels funds into two primary areas: Outreach and Research. Collaborating with local social service agencies, outreach efforts provide vital resources such as food, housing, transportation, and medical assistance. Additionally, funding for research at the Institute of Gerontology addresses critical aging issues, including Alzheimer's disease and homelessness.

Why Donate?

Older adults are often undervalued, and many lack access to basic necessities. Every contribution, whether $5 or $5,000, plays a crucial role in enhancing the lives of seniors in need.
