Our Story
The Baldwin County Trailblazers, founded in 1995 by Teko Wiseman, is dedicated to creating a pedestrian- and bike-friendly community in Baldwin County, Alabama. The organization began with a vision to connect cities and towns through safe walking and biking trails, addressing the initial challenge of generating public support for sidewalks in small communities. Collaborating with local officials, media, and national trail experts, the Trailblazers have successfully promoted the concept of connectivity.
Since the construction of the first trail segment in 1998, the Trailblazers have worked tirelessly to expand and maintain the trail network. A significant milestone was reached in 2013 with a federal grant that, when matched with local funds, allowed for the completion of the Eastern Shore Trail. The final 1.5-mile segment was completed in 2015, enhancing the scenic beauty and accessibility of the area.
