Our Story

The Bakehouse Art Complex was established in the mid-1980s by visionary artists who sought to create a sanctuary for creativity in Miami. With the support of the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County’s Community Development Block Grant programs, they transformed a 33,000 square-foot former Art Deco bakery into a vibrant hub for artists. This initiative aimed to protect artists from the pressures of gentrification by providing affordable studio spaces in the heart of Wynwood.
