Our Story

The Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation was established in 1997 under the leadership of former Bainbridge Park District Director, Chuck Field. Since its inception, the Foundation has partnered with local agencies to support community-driven projects, including the original KidsUp! playground and the Yeomalt Cabin restoration. In 2014, the Foundation expanded its mission by hiring its first Executive Director, focusing on enhancing recreational opportunities across Bainbridge Island. Today, the Foundation plays a crucial role in facilitating trail acquisition, maintenance, and providing fiscal sponsorship for community-led park initiatives.

Impact

In 2023, the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation awarded $15,000 in Community Grants to six local park and recreation programs, contributing to over $1 million in total support for park and trail projects, programs, and land acquisition.
