Our Story
In 2014, the Rotary Club of Leesburg discovered a staggering number of children in Loudoun County facing food insecurity. To address this pressing issue, Dan Hampton founded the Backpack Buddies Foundation of Loudoun, Inc. (BBFL) as a centralized nonprofit organization. BBFL was established to provide a reliable platform for individuals and corporate donors to contribute to the fight against hunger in their community. Starting with just two members and a mission to ensure no child goes hungry over weekends or extended school breaks, BBFL has grown significantly over the years.
Impacting Lives
Thanks to the generous support from individuals, businesses, and local groups, BBFL now supports approximately 85 elementary, middle, and high schools, providing food assistance to over 3,000 students. This remarkable growth from just 275 students in 2014 showcases the foundation's commitment to eradicating hunger in Loudoun County.
Why Donate?
Your contribution can make a significant difference. A donation of $500 can feed one school-aged child for an entire year. By supporting BBFL, you are directly impacting the lives of children in need.
