Our Story

In the fall of 2004, Al Hatch and fellow car enthusiasts envisioned a car show in downtown Flint to complement the renowned Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit. With the support of local businesses and city leaders, the first Back to the Bricks® event took place in August 2005. Since then, it has evolved into a multi-day celebration, drawing over 500,000 car enthusiasts and spectators each year, while fostering community engagement and education about Flint's rich automotive heritage.

Impact

Back to the Bricks® has transformed from a modest one-day event into a major attraction, providing over $70,000 in youth scholarships since 2018. This commitment to the community highlights the organization's dedication to preserving automotive history and supporting local youth.
