Our Story
The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), launched by the World Health Organization and UNICEF in 1991, aims to promote breastfeeding and enhance infant feeding practices globally. Baby-Friendly USA, Inc. serves as the national authority for the BFHI in the United States, accrediting facilities that meet the initiative's rigorous standards. Since 2007, the number of Baby-Friendly designated facilities has surged from less than 3% to approximately 25% of U.S. births, fostering a supportive environment for mothers and infants.
