Our Story

The Babcock Center was founded in 1967 by Mary L. Duffie, initially providing daycare for children with intellectual disabilities. Over the years, it has evolved into the largest provider of community services for individuals with severe lifelong disabilities in South Carolina, serving both children and adults.

Impact

To date, over 5,000 individuals have benefited from our programs, gaining access to employment opportunities, independent living, and essential life skills. The Babcock Center operates seven vocational training centers and supports over 65 residences.
