Our Story

The LIFT Foundation, established in 1966, emerged from a collaborative effort among business, civic, and nonprofit leaders to tackle the pressing need for low-income housing in Kalamazoo. By securing funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), LIFT has been able to offer low-interest loans to families in need. Over the years, LIFT has evolved into a cornerstone of the community, managing over 600 apartments and townhomes dedicated to affordable housing.

With a focus on building, preserving, and maintaining affordable housing, LIFT Foundation has successfully improved the quality of life for over 600 individuals and families in Kalamazoo.
