Our Story

The Aviation Museum of Santa Paula was founded in the wake of the St. Francis dam disaster in 1928, when local ranchers Ralph Dickenson and Dan Emmet envisioned an airport to benefit their community. With investments from 19 local ranchers and businessmen, the Santa Paula Airport opened in August 1930, becoming a cornerstone of aviation history.

Impact

As a hub for aviation education, the museum engages the community and inspires youth to explore careers in aviation. With over 300 general aviation aircraft and nearly 100,000 arrivals and departures annually, the Santa Paula Airport plays a vital role in local aviation.
