Austin Tamil School was initiated by the Austin Tamizh Sangam in 2013 to teach Tamil to children in the Tamil community of Austin, Texas. What began as a pilot program during the Pongal festival has blossomed into a vibrant educational institution serving over 400 children, supported by around 80 dedicated volunteers.
With a focus on enriching the lives of approximately 2,500 Tamil-speaking families in the Greater Austin area, the school provides invaluable opportunities for children to learn Tamil and connect with their cultural heritage. The benefits of multilingualism are emphasized, promoting cognitive, social, and academic growth.
