Our Story

The Austin History Center Association was established in 1979 to secure a home for the Austin-Travis County Collection. Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in January 1980, the AHCA has been pivotal in advocating for the historic 1933 Austin Central Library building, raising funds for renovations, and supporting the Austin History Center's operations.

Impact

Each year, the Austin History Center welcomes numerous visitors and maintains an extensive archival collection. The AHCA plays a crucial role in preserving the first Austin Public Library and continues to advocate for the center's significance in the community.
