Our Story

Austin Creative Reuse began in 2009 when a passionate group of artists, educators, and community advocates came together to create a sustainable organization dedicated to creative reuse. In 2011, ACR achieved 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, and by 2015, the first creative reuse center in Austin opened its doors. Initially run entirely by volunteers, the center has grown significantly, moving to an 11,000 square foot facility in Windsor Park in 2020. Now, ACR welcomes the public six days a week, providing a vibrant space for creativity and sustainability.

Impact

To date, Austin Creative Reuse has diverted over two million pounds of usable materials from landfills, achieving a remarkable diversion rate of over 96%. With approximately 3,000 visitors each month and 10,000 volunteer hours contributed annually, ACR fosters a community dedicated to sustainability and creative expression.
