About Austin Community Radio
Austin Community Radio, Inc., operating as KAZI 88.7, is the oldest community radio station in Austin, Texas. Founded in 1982, KAZI is a listener-supported, non-commercial station dedicated to providing educational programming and information, with a special emphasis on media access for the African-American community and other underserved groups. The station was born from the vision of the late Dr. John Warfield, a professor of African-American Studies at the University of Texas, and has since become a vital part of the Austin community.
