Our Story

In September 1966, Chief Erwin J. Bauman initiated the establishment of a fire museum to collect and preserve Aurora’s firefighting history. The museum opened in October 1968 and has thrived under the leadership of Captain Charles Goodwin and his wife Georgia. After outgrowing its original location, the museum moved to the historic Central Fire Station, restored and reopened in 2004.

Impact

The Aurora Regional Fire Museum serves as a unique historical landmark and educational resource, preserving the history of the Aurora Fire Department while promoting fire safety and prevention through interactive exhibits and community programs.
