Our Story

Founded in 2006, Augusta Dog Adoptions, formerly known as Chains Hurt, began with a mission to advocate for a tethering ban in Staunton, VA. As the need for dog rescue grew, the organization shifted focus to saving dogs from high-kill shelters, partnering with local shelters to improve save rates.

Impact

In 2022 alone, Augusta Dog Adoptions saved 211 dogs, contributing to a remarkable total of 4,500 dogs rescued since 2007. The organization targets shelters in Virginia with the highest kill rates, significantly enhancing their save rates.
