Our Story
The Association of Developmental Disabilities Providers (ADDP) has been a beacon of hope for individuals with developmental disabilities and brain injuries in Massachusetts for over 35 years. Founded by a dedicated group of human service providers, ADDP has evolved through various transformations, advocating tirelessly for the rights and needs of those it serves. Initially established as the Mental Retardation Providers Council, the organization has grown to represent 130 private providers, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective residential and community-based services.
Throughout its history, ADDP has played a crucial role in shaping policies and legislation that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The merger with the Massachusetts Association of Community Rehabilitation Organizations in 2001 marked a significant milestone, allowing ADDP to broaden its focus to include both residential and day services. This comprehensive approach has enabled ADDP to adapt to the changing landscape of disability services, ensuring that individuals receive the support they need across their lifespan.
