Our Story

Founded in 1975, the Association for Nonsmokers Minnesota (ANSR) was instrumental in passing the nation’s first comprehensive state clean indoor air legislation. Since then, ANSR has been at the forefront of tobacco policy, advocating for significant measures like the Freedom to Breathe Act and raising the tobacco tax. The organization has also played a crucial role in restricting flavored tobacco sales in Minneapolis and Saint Paul, and in Edina, where the tobacco sales age was raised to 21.
