Transforming Lives Through Social Capital
Asia Initiatives began its journey in 1999, inspired by a vision to uplift the severely underprivileged in South Asia. The organization was founded after a pivotal meeting with Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, a renowned agricultural scientist, who encouraged a group of friends to engage with their roots and address pressing issues back home. This led to the establishment of programs that are 'pro-poor, pro-women, and pro-environment.'
From its inception, Asia Initiatives has focused on empowering communities through innovative solutions such as Village Knowledge Centers and microcredit schemes in Tamil Nadu. Over the years, the organization has expanded its reach to 20 sites across India, Kenya, Ghana, and the United States, implementing holistic development programs that encompass education, health, and livelihood improvement.
Today, Asia Initiatives proudly empowers over 1,200 girls with digital literacy and health knowledge, fostering sustainable development and women's empowerment. The organization’s unique methodology, Social Capital Credits (SoCCs), has transformed communities into stakeholders of their own success.
