Our Story

Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) is a globally recognized non-profit organization committed to environmental conservation and sustainable, socially just development. Based in India, ATREE engages in generating and disseminating interdisciplinary knowledge that meets the needs of grassroots communities, policymakers, and the public. With a focus on capacity-building, ATREE nurtures the next generation of scholars and leaders, addressing critical challenges in environmental conservation.

Impact

Over the past 25 years, ATREE has discovered 103 new species, secured individual forest rights for 2,140 individuals across 1,519 hectares, and improved livelihoods for 40,000 people.
