About Asheville Symphony

The Asheville Symphony was founded in 1960 by a dedicated group of volunteer musicians, bringing the joy of orchestral music to local churches and school auditoriums. Over the years, it has blossomed into a vibrant cultural institution, expanding its reach and impact within the community. With the introduction of paid musicians, a full-time manager, and innovative programs like the Asheville Amadeus festival, the Symphony continues to evolve and inspire.

Impact on the Community

Thanks to a generous $50,000 grant from The William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust, the Asheville Symphony has enhanced its community engagement efforts, reaching over 10,000 patrons across Western North Carolina. Initiatives such as Symphony in the Park and the ALT ASO series have made music accessible to all.
