Our Story

Founded in 2001 by a passionate group of former rowers and outdoor enthusiasts, Asheville Rowing Club has transformed from a single 4-man rowing shell to a thriving community of over 120 members. The construction of a dedicated boathouse on Lake Julian in 2005, made possible through generous community donations and volunteer efforts, marked a pivotal moment in the club's journey. As an organizational member of USRowing, the club proudly serves a diverse group from Buncombe and surrounding counties.

Impact

With approximately 50 dedicated competitive racers, Asheville Rowing Club frequently excels at regional and national regattas, including a notable victory at the Southeast Regional Championship in 2017. The club fosters health and fitness through rowing, positively impacting the lives of over 120 members.
