Founded by Karin McWhorter in June 2020, Ascend College Prep began as a small private school focused on math education and tutoring. Encouraged by students to expand, the school gained approval from the Education reEnvisioned BOCES in April 2021, leading to the issuance of a school code by the Colorado Department of Education in July 2021.
