The Arts Mentorship Program (AMP) was founded to provide creative guidance, mentorship, and financial support to young and emerging performing artists in Santa Barbara County. Inspired by the personal journey of Executive Director René García-Hernández, who found solace in dance amidst struggles with mental health, AMP aims to help others discover their identity and belonging through the arts.
Since 2004, AMP has provided need-based and merit-based scholarships, affordable rehearsal space, and performance opportunities to young artists, emphasizing the importance of movement and dance for healthy development.
