Our Story

The Artists Collective was founded in 1970 by Jackie McLean and his wife, Dollie McLean, alongside co-founders Paul Brown, Ionis Martin, and Cheryl Smith. What began as informal gatherings has transformed into a formal arts institution dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich arts and culture of the African Diaspora.

Impact

Over the years, the Artists Collective has trained thousands of students in both performing and visual arts, fostering positive self-identity and providing role models from the African Diaspora. Many alumni have gone on to achieve success in various fields, including the arts, education, and healthcare.
