Our Story

Incorporated in Texas in 1950, the Art Museum of Southeast Texas began its journey in a modest rented house. Thanks to generous donations, including a significant contribution from the S. Perry Brown family, the museum found its first dedicated space in 1956. In 1969, the J. Crooke Wilson family further enriched the museum's legacy by donating their estate to the City of Beaumont, ensuring a professional and educational focus. After a successful capital campaign in 1987, the museum re-emerged as the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, now located at 500 Main Street in Beaumont.
