Our Story
The Center for Art and Advocacy was established in 2022 to create pathways to sustainability and equity for artists affected by the criminal legal system. Building on the success of the Right of Return Fellowship, founded in 2017, the Center focuses on improving outcomes for justice-impacted artists through financial support, community engagement, and professional development.
Impact
In just five years, fellows have achieved remarkable success, earning prestigious awards like MacArthur Fellowships and Guggenheim Fellowships, with their work showcased in renowned institutions such as MoMA and the Brooklyn Museum.
