Our Story

The Arkansas Resource Conservation and Development Council, rooted in the USDA's national program from the 1960s, has been a beacon for environmental and economic development in Arkansas. Established in the 1970s, local communities recognized the need for coordinated efforts to tackle pressing environmental issues. The Council has since united local leaders, stakeholders, and volunteers to implement impactful projects that conserve natural resources and enhance agricultural practices.

Impact

In collaboration with the NRCS, the Arkansas RC&D Council has empowered numerous producers to adopt innovative conservation practices, such as high tunnel systems. These systems allow farmers to grow fresh vegetables year-round, significantly contributing to local food drives and combating food insecurity.
