About Arizona Friends of Tibet
Founded in 1991 by Peggy Mellon Hitchcock, Arizona Friends of Tibet is dedicated to advocating for Tibetan causes and supporting Tibetan communities. The organization has played a pivotal role in bringing the Dalai Lama to Tucson for teachings and has provided over $200,000 in grants to support Tibetan orphans, monks, nuns, and elders.
Impact During Crisis
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Arizona Friends of Tibet provided lifesaving support and funded critical research related to the virus. The organization also extended its humanitarian efforts to Tibetan Buddhist centers in Ukraine and Poland, aiding Ukrainian refugees.
