Our Story
In 1985, a group of passionate individuals, including Kelsey Orestis, Alma Desjardins, Trish Buls, David Peters, and Diane Potvin, gathered in a living room to form the Area IV Mental Health Services Coalition, which later became known as Common Ties Mental Health Services. This coalition emerged from a shared commitment to advocate for individuals transitioning from hospitals and institutions back into their communities. The founders recognized the urgent need for equality and quality of life for those facing mental health challenges.
