Our Story
The Arc of Oconee County was founded in 1962 by dedicated parents advocating for the rights of their children with disabilities. Initially known as the Oconee Association for Retarded Children, the organization aimed to build a school for disabled children. With community support, the first classes began with just five students, leading to the establishment of the Tribble Memorial Center in 1974. Today, The Arc continues to advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and enhance their lives through various programs.
