Our Story

The Arc of Calhoun and Cleburne Counties was founded in 1959 by dedicated parents advocating for their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Over the years, it has transformed into a vital community resource, officially incorporating in 1960 and adopting the name "The Arc" in 1996. Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2020, The Arc continues to champion the rights and needs of individuals with ID/DD and their families.

Impact

Currently, The Arc serves over 351 active participants in Special Olympics programs and supports 114 children and adults in summer day camps. Additionally, educational support is provided to six public and four private school systems, while 118 individuals benefit from life skills training through the Family Advocacy Program.
