Our Story
The Center for Rural Livelihoods, originally founded as Aprovecho in the late 1970s by former Peace Corps members, emerged from a vision to foster resilience in rural communities. After witnessing the devastation in Central America, these pioneers returned to Oregon with a mission to develop sustainable technologies and social structures. Over the decades, the organization has evolved, focusing on rural development and ecological resilience, while incubating numerous projects that promote community engagement and sustainable practices.
Impact
Through innovative educational programming and sustainable land management practices, the Center for Rural Livelihoods has significantly contributed to ecological stewardship and economic opportunities in rural areas.
