Our Story

The Appalachian Reading Center, Inc. was founded in 2004 to support struggling readers of all ages in the Appalachian region. With a focus on students with language-based learning disabilities, the center has expanded from a small team serving 15 students to a dedicated staff of 25 helping nearly 250 students improve their reading skills.

Impact

Through personalized tutoring, the Appalachian Reading Center has significantly enhanced the reading abilities of numerous students, leading to improved academic performance and self-esteem. Many students have progressed from struggling readers to achieving benchmark levels, with some qualifying for scholarships due to their enhanced test scores.
