Education About Appalachian Heritage

Our Story

The Appalachian Community Development Association (ACDA) has been a beacon of Appalachian culture since its inception in 1975, evolving from the Junior League of Cincinnati's Appalachian Festival. Directed by a dedicated all-volunteer Board of Trustees, with a majority of members of Appalachian descent, the festival celebrates the rich heritage of the region. Each Mother's Day weekend, the festival attracts over 10,000 visitors and engages 1,000 school children on 'Education Day', fostering a deep appreciation for Appalachian traditions.

Impact

With nearly 15,000 attendees over three days, the Appalachian Festival significantly raises awareness and appreciation for Appalachian culture. Proceeds from the festival are allocated to grants that support organizations dedicated to enhancing Appalachian life, directly benefiting the community.
