Our Story

Founded in 1990 in Charleston, West Virginia, the Appalachian Children's Chorus (ACC) began with a vision to provide children with unique musical experiences. Under the direction of Selina Midkiff, the choir started as the University of Charleston Children's Chorus with just 12 members. Over the years, ACC has evolved, changing its name in 1996 to better reflect its regional identity. In 2003, it was honored as the official Children's Chorus of West Virginia. With a rich history of community involvement and numerous awards, ACC continues to inspire young artists through exceptional music education.

Impact

The Appalachian Children's Chorus plays a vital role in the cultural landscape of Charleston and beyond. By providing quality music education, ACC fosters personal and social growth among its members, ensuring that children from diverse backgrounds can participate and thrive.
