Our Story
AntFarm, rooted in the teachings of Frank Fools Crow, emerged from the RedWind community in 1997. This earth-based community emphasizes the health of individuals, communities, and the planet. In 1999, AntFarm became a nonprofit to strengthen alliances and enhance support for high-risk youth. The name "Woape," meaning hope in Lakota, was adopted in 2008, reflecting a commitment to service and cultural teachings.
Over the years, AntFarm has developed a variety of programs aimed at empowering youth and families. From the establishment of AntFarm Indoors, which includes a café, learning center, and cultural arts center, to outdoor initiatives like YouthCore and community service projects, AntFarm has continually adapted to meet the needs of the community.
During the pandemic, AntFarm thrived by providing essential support, including rental assistance and basic needs. Today, AntFarm operates sixteen impactful programs, focusing on youth services, workforce development, housing services, and community wildfire defense.
