Our Story

Anne Arundel Connecting Together (ACT) was born from the grief and anger surrounding gun violence in our communities. An inter-faith group of clergy and lay leaders recognized the urgent need to address the systemic causes of violence and inequality. In 2016, this diverse coalition made a commitment to unite and build a powerful organization that could heal and repair our communities. By 2018, ACT had trained hundreds of leaders across Anne Arundel County, culminating in a Founding Assembly attended by over 1,100 individuals.

Impact

In 2023, ACT formed four issue action teams focused on housing, education, mental health, and gun violence prevention. Through listening sessions with 1,200 community members, ACT advanced affordable housing legislation and launched Turnaround Thursday, a second-chance jobs initiative that has already helped over 50 individuals secure quality employment.
