Our Story
Founded in 1999 by Ira Barsky and Edward H. Sarbey, the Animal Rescue Coalition was established to combat the crisis of euthanized shelter animals. By partnering with local animal welfare organizations and Sarasota County Animal Services, ARC began offering spay/neuter services to pet owners. Over the years, the organization has expanded its reach with mobile spay/neuter units and a state-of-the-art surgical facility, helping to reduce the number of homeless animals in the community.
Impact
Since its inception, ARC has performed over 75,000 spay/neuter surgeries, significantly decreasing shelter populations and preventing the euthanasia of countless adoptable animals.
