Founded in 1990 by compassionate citizens of Old Town and Orono, The Animal Orphanage has been a sanctuary for lost and abandoned cats and dogs. Over the years, thousands of animals have received food, shelter, and medical care, all while being cared for by a dedicated staff. The mission is to reunite pets with their owners or find them loving new homes.
Since 2019, The Animal Orphanage has successfully adopted out 1,239 animals, rescued 1,557 animals, and vaccinated 1,207 animals, demonstrating a strong commitment to animal welfare.
