About the Andy Talley Bone Marrow Foundation
Founded in November 2010 by Coach Andy Talley and Krista Ross, the Andy Talley Bone Marrow Foundation is dedicated to increasing the chances of finding life-saving donors for patients in need of blood stem cell or bone marrow transplants. This mission has its roots in Coach Talley's efforts dating back to 1992, when he first learned about the critical need for donors.
Our Journey
Coach Talley mobilized his team of young athletes to join the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) Registry, leading to over 200 student-athletes registering in just one year. Over the years, he organized numerous registration drives across college campuses, raising awareness about the importance of donor registration.
In 2008, a pivotal partnership with NMDP led to the launch of the "Get in the Game" (GITG) initiative, which has since engaged over 250 college football programs. Each spring, these programs host on-campus registration events, significantly contributing to the cause.
Impact
Since the inception of GITG, more than 200,000 potential donors have been added to the Registry, resulting in over 1,300 successful transplants. This remarkable achievement highlights the foundation's commitment to providing hope and renewed life to patients and their families.
