About Anchorage Waterways Council
Anchorage Waterways Council is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to the protection, restoration, and enhancement of the waterways, wetlands, and associated uplands within the Municipality of Anchorage. With a mission to prevent environmental degradation, AWC collaborates with a diverse range of partners, including federal and state agencies, local governments, educational institutions, and community members. This collective effort ensures the health and vitality of Anchorage's beautiful creeks.
Impact of AWC
For over 24 years, the Citizens' Environmental Monitoring Program has engaged more than 200 volunteers in testing water quality, while the Creek Cleanup program, active since 1984, addresses pollution in local waterways. These initiatives exemplify AWC's commitment to fostering a sustainable environment.
