Our Story

Anchor of Hope was born from a legacy of kindness that began during World War II. The founder's mother, Sophie, faced unimaginable hardships as a child in a small Polish village. Abandoned and raised in poverty, she and her grandmother struggled to survive amidst the chaos of war. It was the selfless act of a neighboring family, Danka's family, that provided them with a lifeline of care and support. This act of compassion not only saved their lives but also inspired a ripple effect of generosity that continues to this day.

After immigrating to America in 1958, Sophie carried the spirit of that kindness with her. Inspired by the ongoing support from Danka's family, Anchor of Hope was established to pay forward the compassion that changed Sophie's life. Over the past 17 months, the organization has sent over 2,600 pounds of aid to displaced Ukrainian families in Poland and Ukraine, demonstrating a commitment to connecting those in need with essential resources.

Our Mission

Anchor of Hope is dedicated to helping displaced individuals and families rebuild their lives. By providing basic necessities, language skills, job training, and a compassionate community, the organization empowers those who have faced adversity to move forward independently and confidently.
