Our Story

Anawim Housing was founded in 1987 by Sister Stella Neill and a dedicated group of individuals who recognized the urgent need for safe, affordable housing in Des Moines. The organization focuses on more than just temporary shelter; it aims to develop stable homes and strengthen communities across Iowa.

Impact

Currently, Anawim Housing serves over 390 individuals and families in Permanent Supportive Housing, achieving a remarkable 92% retention rate after one year. This demonstrates the effectiveness of its programs in providing lasting housing solutions for those who have experienced homelessness.
