Our Story

Founded in 2002 by Jan and Bob Hatmaker, Amigos de Guatemala emerged from a visit to a Mayan village where the challenges of poverty and lack of education were evident. The organization began by improving local schools and has since expanded to provide scholarships, healthcare initiatives, and community development projects. With a commitment to fostering trust and collaboration, Amigos has supported over 66 scholarship students and completed more than 50 impactful projects.

Impact

Amigos de Guatemala has transformed thousands of lives through education, healthcare, and community support, resulting in over 150 high school graduates and numerous projects that enhance the quality of life for marginalized groups in rural Guatemala.
