Ames Community Preschool Center

Our Story

Established in 1968, Ames Community Preschool Center (ACPC) is the first nonprofit child care center in Ames, Iowa. A dedicated group of community members, including members of the First Christian Church, worked tirelessly to launch this vital initiative. Starting with just 35 children aged 3-5 years in downtown Ames, ACPC has expanded its reach and services over the decades. In 2013, the center relocated to the former Willson-Beardshear Building, now located at 920 Carroll Avenue, providing a nurturing environment with ample green space for children to explore and learn.

For over 50 years, ACPC has been a cornerstone of the Ames community, delivering high-quality early childhood education and fostering community engagement through field trips and local partnerships.
